Canon has released the IXUS 1000 HS. Compared to the first models, which offered a couple of megapixels and feeble zoom, the IXUS 1000 HS sounds cutting-edge. Its main selling features include a 10 megapixel sensor and 10x optical zoom lens.

Canon claims the 10-megapixel IXUS 1000 HS is the slimmest 10x optical zoom compact. The Canon IXUS 1000 HS also offers full 1080p HD video for stereo sound recording, something of a coup in a camera in this price range, as well as a 6.3–63mm (35 mm equivalent: 36 – 360 mm) f/3.4 - 5.6 lens.

Canon has made this a high-sensitivity model as ISO can be pushed as far as 6400, 3200 in full resolution. Last but not least, the IXUS 1000 HS has a 3in, widescreen-ratio (16:9) rear LCD.

Toshiba REGZA SD-P96DT And SD-P76S Portable DVD Players Review

Toshiba is back with a couple of new portable DVD players namely the 9-inch REGZA SD-P96DT and 7-inch REGZA SD-P76S. The Toshiba SD-P96DT provides a 800 x 480 resolution and has both 1-Seg digital and analog tuners, while the Toshiba SD-P76S comes with a 480 x 234 display and no TV tuners at all.

In addition to Music CD and DVD-Video playback, these REGZA portable DVD players also supports playback of DivX video, MP3/WMA audio as well as JPEG images from SD/SDHC memory card or CD/DVD discs. The 7-inch REGZA SD-P76S is available in white, pink, blue and green.

Model 9-inch larger have WVGA resolution and a built-in digital tuner and analog 1-SEG and 6 hours of battery life. Smaller models do not have a tuner and will have a resolution of 480 X 234 with about 3 hours of battery life. Both models are equipped with memory card slots, which will allow to play back DivX, MP3/WMA, and JPEG content. A car charger, A / V cable, and remote control. SD-P96DT will ship in Japan in early December while the SD-P76S will arrive mid-January.
